From Ella to Kandy it takes about 5 hours. It is the second largest city in Sri Lanka and also one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.

RELAXING AT ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDEN
Talk a walk and relax at Botanical Garden. A place full of nature to escape from the touristic areas. Many unusual plants, trees and flowers can be seen from around the world (Some of them I have never seen before). With a high chance, you can also watch some monkeys playing with each other in the garden. Orchid is one of my favourite flowers and especially the orchid house was amazing with so many different types, colours and shapes. We spent a couple of hours in this beautiful garden and still had many things to see.

TEMPLE OF THE SACRED TOOTH RELIC
The temple of the tooth is locally known as Sri Dalada Maligawa. This beautiful temple is located in the royal palace and surrounded by beautiful green mountains and the Kandy lake. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is the primary reason why most of the Buddhist Pilgrims of Sri Lanka come for a visit. However, you can’t see the tooth, it is hidden in a Golden Casket.

Tips:
- Try to go in the early afternoon, otherwise the temple will be very crowded
- Be respectful. You should cover your shoulders and legs, no matter Man or Woman
- You don’t need a tour guide so you could just ignore them
TRADITIONAL KANDYAN DANCING

After visiting the temple, we decided to watch a cultural dance show. The costumes were beautiful and colourful, all the dancing is connected to a story. The music was captivating. The showtime is about one hour and we were enjoying it a lot (incl. fire-show).
WHERE TO STAY IN KANDY

Cinnamon Citadel Hotel is just 15 mins away from the Kandy centre. We stayed for two nights. The hotel is located next to the river and the view with the jungle was fabulous. The food was great, especially the dinner buffet you should not miss. Excellent quality and selection.
I’ve been to Kandy 9 years ago, such a beautiful city, love it and can’t wait to go back. Thank a lot for the great post, love it!
